What Is A Niche

This is a question I get asked a lot… What is a niche?

When you’re thinking about creating a business, any kind of business you are operating in a niche category. This is a specific field of interest. Either you know a lot about this interest or you don’t know much, but other people are looking for items or services or simply information about the specific category. The tricky part about starting your own online business is finding the right niche for you. Let’s take a look at what is a niche and how to find the right one for you.

What Is Niche Marketing

Niche marketing is a subset of a subject in which a specific product or service is focused. This could be a large or small market depending on demographics, need for product or service, interest, price range or product development. When you get into creating a business around a niche what you are essentially doing is honing in on the product or service in which people show interest and you are either selling them items related to that specific niche, supplying information on the specific product or service or using reference to said product or service.

Every product cannot be defined as a niche market however, It is a specific product you are supplying. For example, if you have a passion for golfing. You niche is not going to be golfing rather golf clubs. All types of clubs and the specific information about the clubs like weight, grip, brand, and so on. You are to be an authority on golf clubs if that is your niche. Or it could be anything golf related, but not golfing in general. The idea of the niche is to be specific to target an audience towards what you have detailed information about. Usually its information that you have and nobody else. That is how you leverage the market on your niche.

You should become an authority on your niche so people will come to you and trust in you to give them the correct information.

Which leads me to my next topic...

How To Research A Niche

You need to know about the product or services you are referring people to.

You need to do your homework and really understand your niche and what people are looking for when it comes to your product or service. My niche is “Making money online” and “Internet Marketing” yes it is two niches, but they both relate to one another. I am constantly learning and studying on this particular niche to bring content to my website for people like you who are looking to start an online business.

You need to know your niche, it is important for this reason. Let’s say you are in the weight loss niche and you’re selling diet plans or workout programs, but you do not workout and you’re overweight… Well, I’m going to assume you are not the right guy to talk to me about weight loss. If fact if this is you then I would recommend you find another niche simply because you’re diving into a subject you’re not passionate about. You need to enjoy what your niche is and you need to want to produce content on your niche and be knowledgeable on the matter.

This brings me to my next topic…

Love What You Do

Ever hear the expression “Love what you do, do what you love”?

Well, this is so true when it comes to your online business and your niche. You really got to love what you do. You need to want to help people who also have a love for what you do and provide them with either the perfect product, service, information or stepping stone to get closer to that niche market. Maybe you love cooking, well if your in the food niche then supplying people with the best cook books or your own recipes is how you want to help them out. Maybe you want to recommend the best knives on the market “the ones that never get dull” or the best blender for chopping, dicing, slicing…you get the picture.

When it comes to figuring out your niche, you gotta love it. No question about it, and you might even change your niche idea more than once. I know I have.

Sometimes you want to start an online business and think, “man I saw this guy killing it with selling T-Shirts!” I love fashion so I’ll do the same thing, but then you realize you don’t know much about fashion, or fabric, or even style. So you give up because you were chasing that shiny object. Best Niche Products

What are the best niche products to sell or services to recommend...

From all the time I’ve spent learning about online marketing and research I have found there are 3 top niches out there which hold the top ranked and searched position.

Health and fitness/ Health and Wellness: This is probably the biggest and most competitive niche to get into. There are literally hundreds of thousands if not millions of people in this niche. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it will make things more competitive for you that’s for sure. Do I recommend this niche, only if it is something you are truly passionate about.
Relationship and Romance Niche: Here is something that is a bit interesting to have as a niche simply because it is more of how can you be passionate about relationships and romance? Well Isn’t that what it already is? Passion? For this niche you could be a relationship coach and offer your services or E-book, you could be helping people find out if their partner is cheating on them, or you could be offering advice on how to get that certain person either back in your life or persuade them to go on a date. This is a huge niche!
Make money online/Online business: This is the niche I chose, and simply because I love creating content and I enjoy learning about the marketing. I also want to be able to guide people and help you out with learning how to make money online and finally get that vacation you always dreamed of. Or you just need additional income, whatever the case I want to help people with an option to better themselves. I love what I do and the gratification of someone telling me they took my advice and either joined a learning platform I recommended to them or they purchased Affiliate Marketing tools and made money is why I do this. The make money online niche is probably as big as the health and fitness, but not everyone sticks with it. It is a very difficult niche to keep up with and it is very demanding. *Don’t get into this niche if all you want to do is chase the dollars… You will fail. Do what you love

Learning From Our Mistakes

One of the best ways to learn is to fail. When we fail we analyze what we did wrong and make corrections to better ourselves. To fail is to succeed, I know it sounds crazy, but a fail is just another opportunity towards success. We can learn from our mistakes. You will probably make a lot of them like I have, but when it all comes together it is worth it. Do not let yourself get you down and never give up! When you fall get back up dust yourself off and try again. It might take you a few times to find that perfect niche that is right for you, but when you realize what your true niche is you will be more productive and produce better content which will help more people.

That should be your goal, to help people. Not to make a bunch of money. If you help people and do the right thing in what you love the money will follow. Every time.

Money is great, but the gratitude you get helping others is worth more than gold. Go out and take $10 bucks, now either give it to someone that truly needs it or go buy yourself something with it. I bet you $1,000 you will feel better helping that person who really needs it rather than easing your own desires. Try this social experiment and leave me a comment below on your experience.
